# Can the LDS be used for children older than 35 months?

**Answer:  **Children with normal language development "outgrow" the LDS by age 3, because they typically have vocabularies exceeding 300 words.  However, the LDS can be used for language-delayed children older than 3 to track emerging vocabulary and sentence development.
