New in v4.5.1.0: Major Update to ASEBA-Informant™
3 min read
We are happy to announce a major update to ASEBA-Informant™. The update includes the following changes:
- We have improved the overall accessibility compliance. Users of ASEBA-Informant™ who use assistance in interacting with web applications will now have a much better experience.
- Similar to recent work in ASEBA-Web™, ASEBA-Informant™ has replaced the previous list of themes with three new ones: a light mode, a high-contrast light mode, and a dark mode.
- ASEBA-Informant™ now saves answers to questions after each question is answered instead of the previous behavior of saving when a form section has been completed.
- We have improved the optimization of space when completing forms from small screens, such as on a phone screen as opposed to a tablet or laptop computer.
- We have improved the end-of-form workflow to be less confusing for informants. Informants still need to click the “Finish” button to confirm that they are ready to submit the form for scoring but the screen makes it more clear if there are questions that are missing answers.
- There are now expanded help sections for informants filling out forms on ASEBA-Informant™ for the first time.
Below are screenshots of the new ASEBA-Informant™ layout:

The forms list screen prompts informants to change their settings as necessary. Informants can change the form, language, and email address. The email address allows for reauthentication if they choose to come back and finish a form later.

Before starting a form, informants are shown a brief help screen that orients them to the buttons used in ASEBA-Informant™.

Questions in ASEBA-Informant™ are presented one at a time, with simple navigation forward and back. Some questions have the ability to include comments. ASEBA-Informant™ no longer keeps track of form sections and no longer allows skipping sections. Previously, this was a major cause of forms being returned with missing answers. A progress bar at the bottom shows the informants their progress through the forms.

Informants have the option to select a dark mode if they prefer. They also have available a high-contrast mode for accessibility reasons. Navigation through the forms can occur through the keyboard as well and screen readers are supported.

Comments and other text fields now have a visible character counter on the screen showing the informant how close they are to the character limit.

The end of a form has been redesigned in this release of ASEBA-Informant™. The form is checked for missing answers and gives informants the opportunity to easily go back and answer them without having to scroll through the entire form. When there are no missing answers the informants will mark the form as complete, which notifies the form contact that the form is ready for review and scoring.
As in previous versions, ASEBA-Informant™ supports the following languages:
- Catalan
- Spanish (Europe)
- Spanish (North America)
- Finnish
- French (Canada)
- French (Europe)
- Icelandic
- Italian
- Norwegian
- Dutch
- Portuguese (Europe)
Many informants choose to use a phone or tablet to access ASEBA-Informant™, and it is fully optimized for small screens and touchscreens.
