What cross-informant data should users show clients?
Answer: The bar graphs of syndrome scale scores are usually the most appropriate cross-informant data to show clients. The descriptive labels for the syndromes are easier to explain than diagnostic labels, such as those of the DSM-oriented scales. Users should typically avoid showing clients profiles and other output that display ratings of individual problem items because (a) it is hard to explain the abbreviated labels for the many problem items; (b) clients may focus excessively on ratings of specific problems, and (c) informants may feel more sensitive about having their ratings of specific items displayed than normed syndrome scores.
