Why are there separate cutpoints for boys vs girls for the vocabulary score but not for average length of phrases?

Answer:  In our normative sample, vocabulary scores were significantly lower for boys than girls in all three age periods, but average length of phrases did not show significant gender differences. Consequently, we recommend using gender-specific cutpoints for vocabulary scores but not for phrase length scores.
